Thomas Shafer is a twice-degreed engineer who has been employed in the telecom industry for 35 years.  He also served in the United States Air Force and has owned and operated his own consulting business.  He has been married for 31 years and has two grown children.  He moved to Kootenai County in 2020 with his wife after 32 years of living in Western Washington.  Tom is an avid skier, mountain biker, and hiker, and is passionate about ensuring that the wild things stay wild, and to help inthe restoration and protection of native habitats.  Tom also has a ferventdesire to protect and honor the principles of private property and sees his role on the KSSWCD board as one of finding balance be
